SHIBUYA empowers GreenTech startups aiming for the global stage.

“GREEN VALLEY SHIBUYA,” hosted by Tokyu Land Corporation as a collaborative project with the Tokyo Metropolitan Government*, is a startup support program that offers the Greater Shibuya Area—a melting pot of diverse people and cultures—as a Proof-of-Concept stage.
Leveraging Tokyu Land Corporation’s extensive experience in startup collaborations and the rich urban resources of the Greater Shibuya Area, we provide comprehensive end-to-end support, from proof-of-concept experiments and global promotion to fundraising opportunities.
* Tokyu Land Corporation has been selected as a partner of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government’s “Boosting Tokyo’s Startup Scene by Uniting Diverse Entities (TOKYO SUTEAM)” project.

Bring Your Greentech to Life in the Heart of Shibuya.

"Selected startups will gain special access to public spaces in the Greater Shibuya Area for their proof-of-concept. Additionally, various assets related to Tokyu Land Corporation—ranging from public spaces around Shibuya Station to offices, commercial facilities, hotels, and residences—will be available as demonstration fields. By conducting proof-of-concept experiments in Greater Shibuya Area, a real-world environment with dynamic human flows and daily life patterns, startups can achieve social implementation involving residents, visitors, government, and businesses, while verifying the potential of GreenTech on an urban scale."

Eligible solutions include any technology or service aimed at creating a sustainable, carbon-neutral future.

We are seeking a wide range of demonstration themes in the greentech field, including clean energy, circular economy, agri & food tech, biodiversity, and smart mobility. The following are examples of demonstration themes.

  • Clean Energy & Carbon Neutrality

    This theme is open to projects related to clean energy and decarbonization in public spaces, commercial facilities, offices and residences.

    Example projects include:
    ・Demonstrating energy consumption optimization in public spaces, offices, and commercial facilities.
    ・Implementing renewable power generation (solar, wind) and battery storage at our power plants or logistics facilities.
    ・Testing smart home solutions (e.g., energy-efficient appliances, IoT devices) in residences, hotels, and resorts.

  • Circular Economy

    This theme is open to projects related to building circular systems for resource use and reducing waste in city districts, retail spaces, resorts.

    Example projects include:
    ・Demonstrating advanced waste sorting and recycling systems in public spaces, commercial facilities, hotels, and resorts.
    ・Showcasing and selling upcycled products made from waste materials in public spaces, commercial facilities, hotels, and resorts.
    ・Introducing reusable containers and packaging systems in commercial facilities, hotels, and resorts.

  • Agri & Food Tech

    This theme is open to projects related to food innovation and food-related technologies that make use of urban spaces.

    Example projects include:
    ・Promoting and selling food products with a low environmental impact in public spaces, commercial facilities, hotels, and resorts.
    ・Developing urban farming projects on rooftops and in unused spaces of commercial facilities and office buildings.
    ・Introducing alternative meats and novel food products to consumers in the Shibuya Station area.

  • Biodiversity & Sustainability

    This theme is open to projects related to creating urban models where people and nature can thrive together, with an emphasis on greening and coexistence with the natural environment.

    Example projects include:
    ・Promoting and selling sustainable tourism experiences in public spaces, tourist information centers, hotels, and resorts.
    ・Implementing rooftop and wall greening solutions at commercial facilities, offices, and logistics facilities.
    ・Monitoring biodiversity across entire districts, hotels, and resorts using IoT sensors and AI image analysis.

  • Smart Mobility & Sharing

    This theme is open to projects related to connecting transportation, mobility, and energy to realize smarter and cleaner urban mobility.

    Example projects include:
    ・Installing and operating EV charging infrastructure at commercial facilities, hotels, resorts, residences, industrial parks, and logistics facilities.
    ・Introducing shared mobility services in public spaces, commercial facilities, hotels, and resorts.
    ・Operating autonomous EV buses and taxis in our industrial parks and logistics facilities.

  • Application guidelines

    ■Number of Startups to be Selected
    Approximately 6 (planned)

    ■Eligibility
    This program is open to greentech startups from Japan and around the world that meet the following criteria:
    ・Business Stage: Open to all stages, from early to late.
    ・Location: No geographical restrictions at the time of application. However, applicants should be planning to expand into Tokyo.

    ■Application Requirements
    1. Be a registered legal entity.
    2. Have a product or service ready for demonstration.
    3. Agree with the program's mission and be willing to actively participate in demonstration activities and PR opportunities.
    4. For International Applicants: At least one representative must be available to travel to Japan at least once during the demonstration period.
    5. Not be affiliated with anti-social forces or any related organizations.

    November 25, 2025 – February 27, 2026: Application period
    March 2026: Selection (preliminary interviews may be conducted as needed)
    Early April 2026: Selected startups announced
    April – July 2026: Preparation and mentoring period
    August – December 2026: Demonstration period
    December 2026: Contest event
    December 2026 – February 2027: Follow-up period

  • Notes

    ・Intellectual Property Rights
    Ownership of any intellectual property (IP) created during the program will, in principle, belong to the participating startup. Specifics regarding joint IP with demonstration partners (e.g., companies, municipalities) will be determined through mutual agreement.

    ・Disclosure of Information
    Selected startups agree that their company name, logo, representative's name, and an overview of their project may be used for promotional purposes by the program, subject to prior consent.

    About Application

    Q. Can individuals apply?
    A. No, applications from individuals are not accepted. Applicants must be a registered legal entity.

    Q. Can I apply from overseas?
    A. Yes. However, demonstration activities must be conducted in Japan (mainly in the Greater Shibuya area).

    Q. Is there a participation fee?
    A. No, participation is free. We provide funding of up to 5 million JPY per company to cover demonstration costs. Any expenses exceeding this amount must be covered by the participating company.

    Q. What costs can be included in the demonstration expenses?
    A. Eligible expenses include costs directly related to the demonstration, such as personnel, development, travel, honoraria for test participants, and consumables. Travel costs for attending mandatory program events are also covered. A rough estimate is sufficient at the time of application.

    Q. What kind of businesses are considered greentech?
    A. Greentech refers to technologies and services that contribute to environmental protection and building a sustainable society. While typical categories include "Clean Energy & Carbon Neutrality," "Circular Economy," and "Agri & Food Tech," we welcome any solution that promotes environmental conservation or sustainability.

    About the Selection Process

    Q. Will interviews be held in person or online?
    A. In principle, interviews will be conducted online.

    Q. If not selected, will the reason be disclosed?
    A. Unfortunately, to ensure a fair and consistent process for all applicants, we do not disclose the specific reasons for non-selection.

    About the Program and Support

    Q. Will support be provided for demonstration preparation and local coordination?
    A. Yes, the project office will support coordination of demonstration fields and, as needed, collaboration with government officials, local residents, and tenant companies.

    Q. Will regular meetings with the project office be in person or online?
    A. In principle, meetings will be held online, but may be held in person if necessary.
